About The Role

Senior Oracle DBA is responsible for supporting and administering the client environment by ensuring key application attributes like Quality, Performance, Scalability, Reliability & Security are achieved.

What You’ll Do

• Liaise with customers on architectural issues, including participation in technical scoping and workshop sessions.
• Provide resolution to production issues within SLAs
• In addition, this role will have responsibility for managing the Client issue lifecycle- the analysis, replication and escalating requests to the appropriate maintenance and consulting teams.
• Database Design of hosting solutions for new managed services clients within cloud hosted environments (AWS)
• Provide support for pro-active monitoring of hosted solutions to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
• Planning database backup and Disaster Recovery strategy
• Shell scripting of tasks that will increase the efficiency and Quality of daily workflow.
• Should have experience working on SQL & PL/SQL scripting
• Experience in migrating and upgrading Oracle databases across different platforms
• Installation, User Management, Database creation and Performance Tuning
• Ensuring severity, impact and risk of incidents is understood and incidents are responded with SLAs and escalate to management if required.
• Experience with configuring and managing Data Guard databases and manual replication.
• Configure and monitor Resource Manager usage
• In depth knowledge of Oracle internals (latches, system waits, resource allocation, data dictionary, table and index storage and access parameters)
• Exposure to Oracle Restart, Experience with Database Patching, Familiarity with Oracle Licensing
• Experience with test databases refresh with an obfuscation utility
• Troubleshooting performance issues and scheduling jobs using Oracle Cloud Control
• Recording and maintaining the integrity of data within Service Now and JIRA Service Desk system
• Extensive experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting operating a drill down approach to O/S, database and application

To be successful in this role, your background and experience will include:

• 8+ years of relevant Oracle DB operational experience
• Requirement to be on-call
• Working experience in Oracle RDBMS
• Experience in database & SQL performance tuning is essential
• Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams across different geographies
• Experience in Oracle Restart, Oracle RAC and cloud-based solutions (AWS)
• Experience in handling databases on EC2 instance and Oracle RDS is essential
• Good understanding of underlying RDBMS technologies
• Skills in SQL, PL/SQL , Linux operating system is essential
• Basic understanding of key hardware concepts e.g. Fault Tolerance, RAID, High Availability, disaster recovery etc
